Helping Small Businesses Grow…

Search Engine Optimization (SEO)

December18

By no means am I an expert on Search Engine Optimization.  However, I have researched it quite a bit and have decided to apply all the tips and tricks I have learned to my site.  As I do so, I will document its growth.

The first tip I will be implementing comes from David Airey’s self titled, high ranking blog davidairey.com.  David advises that the key to a high ranking site lies in “the quality and relevance of the website content.”  He suggest updating your website and blog daily with quality information and articles will steadily assist in growing your website.  Let’s see how it goes…

Writing a new blog every day is no small task.

Latest Design

December10

Thanks for taking a look at my latest design! This is a business card for a great company, Final Stage. Final Stage helps homeowners and commercial property owners stage their property for sale or lease. If you are in the market to sell, I guarantee that Final Stage will have your place looking like a model home!

With the name and purpose of the company in mind, I designed a business card, which I believe incorporates the style of the company. The design on the back of the card is intended to be a well-staged living room yet has the feel of a theater stage. I hoped this
would be a cute spin on the
name of the company.

To add even more style to the card, I added spot gloss to the curtains, text, and foilage. This means once the cards has been printed the curtains, text, and ivy will all have a shiny gloss finish while the rest of the card will remain a matte finish. This is one of my favorite techniques as it adds texture and character to the card.

Patronizing Other Small Businesses

December10

First off, I would like to welcome you to my new website, which is my ongoing project. If you have read over any of the website you know that its purpose is to help start-up companies and small business develop and prosper. This is why the subject of my first blog is “Patronizing Other Small Businesses.”

Retailers are shutting down right and left in this recession. The government is bailing out big businesses that are defaulting but there is not much help for the little guy. It’s time we start helping out the small business owner. Unless, of course, we want to live in a world where Walmart is are only choice in retailer!

That is for sure isn’t the world I want. I would rather a world where small business owners unite and patronize each other. This is why I have started my links page. First off, each of the small businesses I have on the page carry awesome products and services. I encourage you to check out that page, in the event you are in the market for any of those products. Secondly, I invite you join my links page! I would like to feature your small business on my site! Hopefully, it will help you generate more business and even if it doesn’t, the more webpages that are linked to your site the stronger your site becomes in the eyes of the search engine. This means you will get a higher ranking just for being linked to my site! So go ahead! Email me your web address and a description of your company, I will have you linked in no time! I would appreciate a link back, but it is not necessary…
